Lipstick Tree : A small ornamental tree with shiny leaves, showy pink white flowers and prickly pods. It has been cultivated in India for many centuries for orange yellow dye obtained from its seeds, which is still used as a safe coloring agent for food. It is a bush or small tree deciduous. Leaves thin, smooth up to 20 cm, on long stalks, base not quite heart- shaped tip long tapering pointy.. Flowers : White or pale pink, large in clusters. Fruit a heart shaped brown, spiny pod, fruit split, open to reveal bright red pulp and seeds. This tree is present in Surajmal Vihar Delhi .A block.
